I've been going to this place every year in beggining of August for a 3-day relaxation with my family and we also combine my wifes b-day there every year.

In the old times it used to be a fishing village, now converted to a very famous (thus quite expensive) local tourist resort famous for its clear sky-blue waters and sandy beaches. Here are some photos (used the MD 35 2.8, MD 50 1.4 and MD Zoom 70-210 4.5-5.6):

Nice series. Must have been tough to expose properly with those white umbrellas. They look good. I can see relaxing there also.

Yeah, looks like a great place, Nick, but why couldn't you get it all to yourselves?

The shot of your son just about to fall in the pool is perfect. And it looks like he's got a motorcycle in his future. ;)

    Thanks claude

Cheers David, and as a matter of fact he's crazy about motorbikes. I bought him one of those battery powered quad bikes - that's about the only motorbike he's getting from me ;)

Noobness ain't it, it's the rush to share the great pics with everybody that does it. Every pic I post I find some thing wrong with days later (sometimes much sooner than that) that needs to be fixed. ;)

    Hi,
short question for something I was reading this morning. Would a polarization filter be of help in some of the shots, by reducing a bit the high contrast areas or not?

    Regards
    A

looks like you have a great time, and definitely relax,
My problem with Protaris is, that is is a completely manufactured/fabricated resort, built to accommodate the holidaymakers that used to go to Famagusta,( which was the jewel in the crown of Cyprus for tourists ) but overnight that all changed after the Turkish invasion.
Many years ago I stayed at the "Alexander the Great" hotel,it was in it's second year I think, a very nice hotel, the owner had inherited almost all the seafront/beaches and was selling the land to developers , when he decided to build his own hotels, the Turkish invasion was kind to him, as the land was virtually worthless to him before that, it's an ill wind that does no good.
At that time there was so much building work going on, seeing the facades being made with plastic and reconstituted stone to look dated, sort of put me off, maybe if I went now and seen it as it is, I might have a change of mind.

I somehow agree that its kinda of "manufactured/fabricated resort" but nevertheless no-one can deny that it also has it natural beauties...

Alexander the Great is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) hotel there. Many things have changed after so many years that I'm sure a visit would change your mind ;)
