SonyAlphaRumors today noticed that Sony seems to have started its Pre-Summer vacation / Mother's Day (US) Sale on cameras: http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/grea...n-the-new-a7ii-and-a7-now-sells-for-999-only/

And, in addition to a first-ever official US$200-off sale on the A7ii, the original A7 is on sale at around US$1000, and the A6000 is also back on sale at its holiday season price of US$450, body only: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...lce6000_b_alpha_a6000_mirrorless_digital.html

I expect, in addition to being the usual pre-summer sale that always seems to happen in May, these deals could point to the hoped for upcoming refresh of the A6000 and A7r.

Oops, sorry. But... ten days... if it's within their return period, perhaps they'll do a price match.

and there is a good chance of buying open-box A7 kit (with 28-70 lens) for $800.

So does this mean the A6000 replacement is around the corner?

I am very tempted on that a6000 price. That is a sweet price point for such a good camera. Even if there is a refresh on the horizon. Very topical as I was just about to write a thread about migrating to Sony fully :p

I think I read that the A6000 was already marked as discontinued somewhere (Australia?)

Also, if you get the A6000 with the 16-50PZ you can add the 55-120 kit lens for $150 ($200 off).

I think this rumour is incorrect. Sony Australia is still selling the A6000 as are numerous resellers here in Australia.

    Edit : extra 'is'

I just checked Adorama, you can add the 55-210 zoom with a body only package.

Hmmm... Yep, the body alone is still available. The version with the kit lens is marked as discontinued.

Which is odd. All the bragging they did about fastest AF and stuff all mention "with the SELP1650 kit lens".

I wasn't having a go at you cobber, just correcting a bit of a misconception that seems to be spreading since Sony Alpha Rumours made that comment.

I think their new strategy will be " buy your camera and pick which lens you want for x amount of dollars".

Just call B&H and tell them. They'll issue a credit no questions.

Aw crap... looks like the sale has ended already, and it's not even Memorial Day yet! The A6000 is back to it's *only* US$100 off price, instead of $200 off. :(
I guess I blew it while waiting for a non-existent new A6xxx announcement.
Better luck next time I suppose.
