Got out and enjoyed one of my other hobbies today with a good friend. It's been awhile and boy could I tell from my feet to my butt to my heart which I thought was going to explode....but despite the pain, there's almost no place I'd rather be...

Love these shots. Single speed in the dirt and mud, brave, good thing for disk brakes.

What do you ride? I was going to transition from my hybrid to a road last season but never got the cash together. Then I saw a guy ripping around the trails in 6" of snow this weekend on a Surly Pugsly. Man that looked fun.

I'm on a Misfit Psycles DiSSent single speed. I build the bike from the frame up. I used to ride a Specialized RockHopper 29er. I also have a Specialized Allez road bike. The mud was rough today. I've never really ridden in mud plus it's been sometime since I've been on my bike, so with those too together, I got my butt whipped today.

Here's a shot of it right after I got it together...

And another this past summer on the trail...

    Fun shots.

I personally have not been biking since my trail bike broke in my late 20's.

Nice ride. The Allez was on my short list too.

On the top three shots, the first one needs to be stopped down. DOF is too shallow. Really like the second shot.

err, I suspect it's very intentional, and most of us like it this way ?...

Yup...intentional...just wanted to show the edge of the teeth and a little chain in focus. Shot that one at f/5.6 I believe. Any more open and the DOF would have been razor thin with this lens.

Like which? The shot itself, or the fact that you can have razor thin DOF? Kind of like which does someone love -- their spouse or the idea of being married? The former is healthier than the latter.

Understood. For me personally, I find the big OOF mass on the left in shot #1 distracting, but I love the idea of the muddy gears. I'd just want to get more weight on the gears, less on the OOF area. But aesthetics are personal. If you like it, who cares what I think about it :)
