I thought it might be Pennsylvania. A few decades ago I went through Philly's train station and it looked very similar. With the people on the bench that appear to be Menonites I though it might be Philly because not far from there is a robust Amish and Menonite community.

I have been through Chicago's Union Station too but back then I came off the cocktail car on the train and don't recall too much.

Visible for a century, even though elevated, I wonder how few people have ever noted the craftsmanship of this public display of art.

I shall call him Don Henley. Because...

...he's one of The Eagles.

It's a sad fact that most of us tend to let our eyes skim over the familiar "everyday" things around us, and in doing so rob ourselves of many potential pleasures. The thought and skill that went into that light, and, I have little doubt the pride taken in the job of producing it, well deserve appreciation. Well spotted Ted

Enjoyed your comment. It's sadly probably the shelter for a homeless person, although we didn't see anyone around at the time.
Ahh, a sad thought. I wish them better times.

I didn't reach for the book, but memory told me that that was such good a match for the original E H Shepherd illustration
