I think this is one of the least expensive f/1.2 lenses out there. Not sure why that is, but I'm glad it's the case. Very good performer on my A7.

Both of these were at f/1.2:

Looks like you can get great subject isolation with that aperture on FF. The DOF must be wafer-thin though! Interesting PP effects on the first pic.

It is quite difficult to get as very few were made and it isn't cheap. I hope to see comparison of these legacy lenses and Mitakon speedmaster at 1.2.

You wouldn't know it from the shot above, which is a bokeh challenge for any fast lens, but the Pentax 50/1.2 has the smoothest bokeh at f/1.2 of all the 50-58mm f/1.2-or-faster manual focus lenses I've owned (Zuiko OM 50/1.2, 55/1.2, Nikon 50/1.2 AIS, Canon 50/0.95, 50/1.2 LTM, Minolta Rokkor 58/1.2). It's really an underappreciated lens IMO.

Shots looking good! I don't think I would have shot them wide open, but then again it is nice to see that it performs well at that aperture. I have the 50mm M f1.7 version which on m4/3s shouldn't be used wide open. With a focal reducer, it can be. Once I hook it up to the A7, however, I think wide open will be no issue at all.

    Love the first shot!
I have the Pentax 50mm 1.7 and 50mm 1.4. I love them. I found the 50mm 1.7 in my father in laws closet and it was my first lens after the kit lens. It's what got me started on my addiction to old lenses.

I had the Pentax SMC K version but now I have the Pentax-A version..the K is almost as good as the PKA. This Lens is the reason why I switched to Sony. I have a Pentax K5 and a KX and I had to switch out both Focusing screens to a homemade Canon precision screens and a Minolta 9000 screen which took several tries to shim accurately for 1.2. Even then the focusing screens would view as about f2.8.
Here is a pic I took on my old 5N oh how I miss this camera.

Here it is on my A7

Yeah, my only disappointment has been that although I could get an M42 adapter to put my Takumar 55/1.8 on a Canon AE-1 there doesn't seem to ever have been a K mount adapter. Still, at least I will be able to try it on the stepson's 5D.

This is the Pentax SMC 55 1.8 not overly sharp and quite dreamy wide open (A7RII)
