Not a new lens to me, new to the NEX camera.
2 generic images:#1 showing the circular aperture on an out of focus highlight; #2 out of focus foreground
    Both shot at 1/1600 and 1/320, ISO100, f/2.8

Is that the lens with a nickname of Bokeh Monster?

Thanks, I have the lens for a number of years and have been using it with my Canon system; I think it fits the NEX better, though.

I'm sure it is, in addition is very good lens, offer very good details and get focuses really good.

    Sun Stars?

My own un-scientific studies have revealed a preliminary correlation between blade quantity and sun star awesomeness. Here's 6 and 7 blades, respectively:

I'll be very curious to see what results this 15-bladed Pentacon might produce. I understand, this being the time of year it is I might have to wait a while for any successful outdoor sun star tests! ;)

I might try to replicate your experiment but I'm missing the crystal orb... what can I substitute it with?

Anything that's shiny that can reflect light, like glass or chrome. The more stopped down the apertures are the more distinct the starburst become.
    Here's a burst with 14 blades - yes, from the humble SEL16 at f22.

Btw, any chance you could post a photo of this wonderful Pentacon mounted on your NEX?

No awesomeness here, but I did not have the proper reflector.
    _DSC0322.jpg

Actually I found a good subject, but still no awesomeness (f/32) and I like better the out of focus reflections (f/2.8):

Sunny day today so I thought I 'd try again:
    1st picture shot with the SEL24F18Z @f/22

    2nd picture shot with Pentacon 135/2.8 @f/32

    Different levels of awesomeness.

    A7 & Pentacon 135. great combo !

A rosebud is growing up before my eyes in this mild winter. I didn't miss the opportunity to capture this beautiful gift with my Pentacon Bokeh monster :

    It's even versus odd.

An even number of blades will reproduce as many light points as there are blades. An odd number of blades will reproduce twice the number of light points. So this 15-blade lens should produce 30-point stars! I wonder if you can even distinguish so many...

I picked up a copy of the Pentacon 135mm f2.8 exakta mount 15 blade in zebra stripes. I got it for $75 which seemed like a bit of a deal to me. I was expecting it to be a lot softer than it is. Again as expected with a lens of this vintage is suffers a little CA wide open but it's sharpness pleasantly surprised me.
