I took three HDR photos at three different exposure ranges with my Nex on a tripod, then stacked the resulting images using Fotox (Linux). The orange glow is from a Cokin 125 graduated tobacco filter I had laying around. Not something I'll be using a lot, but I thought I'd give it a go with the blazing sun in the background.

Not sure I would have gone with such a bright orange, but still a pleasant shot.

Thanks all. The tint was quite a bit more than I expected when I grabbed the filter. I have a stack of old Cokin filters I've had so long I don't even remember when or where I bought them. I think one of them is a graduated ND filter, which would be great, since those things are expensive these days.

    I like the toning.

But why use a filter and not do it in post? It's easy to do and gives you more control over the effect and exact color. And, I personally hate watermarks. But that's just me. Probably.

I used the filter just because it was laying on a shelf and I wanted to give it a go. I don't have LR (I use Linux at home) and I haven't sufficiently learned GIMP. The above photo was really nothing more than an experiment.

    I also only use Linux.
I use Rawtherapee and gimp and it works quite well.
