Tonight, after an impossibly long work day, I was walking down the alley to my place when I saw a leather box and two old camera bags on top of a garbage bin. I opened the box to find a 16mm movie camera, then unzipped a bag to find a Minolta SRT 201 on top. I immediately zipped up the bag and gathered the items to take home and investigate further. Bags contained 4 Minolta mount lenses, 2 SRT 201's and various accessories. Lenses are MD 50mm f2, MD Rokkor-X F1.7, Osawa MC 80-205mm F4.5 aaaand an MD 85mm F2 in perfect condition! Just picked up a Jupiter 9 but the Minolta is the same size (mounted), lighter and a joy to use. I'm happy with images from the Jupiter but focus is sticky and a bit of a chore, Minolta is like butter.

    Glad I worked late!

Now I just need to quell my elation and get some sleep. Will try and photograph the take tomorrow.

Yes, super happy about the 85mm. It's likely I won't wrestle with the Jupiter again. I already have 5 nifty fifties (including MD 1.4) so those and the tele probably won't see any use for a while. I will use the Minolta macro extension tube set and mini tripod that I found in the bags. Still can't believe I found all this on top of a garbage can.
