Old Rusty Steam trains

My mate is in the process of rebuilding a steam locomotive, I was down there today and took photos of old relics in a state of decay probably never to be restored, the one that's being restored isn't in the photos as it's in bits,

:D So brown is the new black in steam engines! Some volunteers don't have to wonder how they'll spend the next 10 years. Not being knowledgeable I've been surprised more than once how a seemingly hopeless pile of rust can be restored to a beautiful new-looking machine.

Something tells me this is a slightly more arduous and costly endeavor than say, restoring MG's or Jag's.
Nice shots, rust never sleeps.

Yes there's about 5 of them invested in restoring it, I think it's been about 15 years so far, a huge amount of work...and cost, still another 2 or 3 years to go they estimate .

There's something about antique trains that appeals to me and makes me think I was born 100 years too late.
