I got out for a couple of days on the bike, riding around northern Nevada.

It was a great ride, except for the part where it got down to 17ºF (–8ºC) in Alturas.

But it warmed up some by the time I rode back home over Mt. Lassen.

    Loxia 21mm f/2.8

Seriously, this is so much fun I'm almost surprised I stop to shoot pictures.

I admire your venturesome spirit David. I'd be worried about running out of gas too much to have much fun. That is really the middle of nowhere.

Wow, just spectacular! Especially that last one on the open playa. Really sums up the feeling of freedom. :2thumbs:

    Thanks, all!

But here's something: I didn't notice it when I took the photo, but the A7RII and SEL85F18 managed to resolve the planet Mars lurking near the moon at twilight. At f/5.6, and focused on the letters in the foreground!

Agreed, the 21mm shot's foregroundwater is more interesting IMHO, though the perspective in the 35mm pic looks more tranquil.

I forgot to mention that both of the Manzanita Lake shots were taken using the Smooth Reflections app. Here’s hoping that Sony recognizes their value, and reintroduces some apps for the Mark III cameras.

Not that my A7RII is going to get replaced any time soon (he said with an absolutely straight face).

I might be tempted to ever so slightly crop the left side and top sky of the 21 version, to me it seems like the more substantial tree reflections on that side slightly skew the balance?

You may be right about that, Mark. The cool thing is, that spot is within an easy day's ride for me. So I bet I'll be back. Maybe when the first snows start to stick on the mountain.
