I have to spend some words on this great little ultrawide lens... N20-Is.
This ultra wide lens is very small. Has a filter size of 52mm, weighs 230 grams, has seven aperture blades (wich gives nice stars) and even without hood it is insensitive to flare. Even at f3.5 it has been pretty sharp, although the lens does not have close focus correction, it is very good to use at close range. I use it regularly with the Nikon PK-11 and K1 extension rings.
    Here are some examples...
    N20-01.
    N20-19.
    N20-21.
    N20-26.
    N20-35.
    N20-39.
    N20-40.
    N20-42.
    N20-74.

    N20-77.
    N20-47.
    N20-52.
    N20-65.
    N20-71.
And some taken on film with the Nikon FA
    fa-81.
    fa-92.
    fa-99.
    Great little lens!

    Really nice work!

I looked up this lens and it ain't one of those cheap legacy bargains so it no wonder it's nice.

Even so, my opening statement still holds. Really nice work!

    Thanks Gary.
IMO there are no 20mm bargains. I paid less for this 20mm Nikon than for my Minolta AF 20mm, and i like it more because of its size.
The lenses that feel right for me most of the time are my smallest lenses on the A7, that's the reason i bought the camera...

Thanks Sam, i had two 28mms from Nikon. Really liked the 28mm 2.8 ais wich focuses already from 20 cm.
Lost it unfortunately on a beautiful spot here in the Netherlands.

So I stopped into my local camera shop on the way to work this afternoon, and they had a copy of the Nikon 20mm f/3.5 AI in stock. I asked to look at it. It looked decent - other than a lot of dust, it seemed okay - no obvious fungus, haze or serious defects. Seemed like there might be some tiny scratches on one of the rear elements, hard to say with the dust. They were asking US$280 for it and were fairly firm on that. So I said I'd have to think on it - that's more than I usually pay for legacy lenses. Was I a fool for passing on it at that price, or is that about average/fair for such a lens?

KEH has a couple of "bargain" lenses for US$289 and US$299, an "excellent" for US$367 and an "excellent plus" for US$399. So I'd say that was a decent price for a "decent" lens. But not a steal.

Hmmm... I was just on KEH.com. Oh, there... I see them now! Oh wait, but those are the AIS version... newer than the AI version. How one can tell the difference just from looking at them, I don't know (it's not like how the MD or MC is printed on a Minolta lens). Maybe it's the color of the aperture marks and some notch on the mount ring. Can't say I recall what the one I saw looked like in those areas.
