NEX-5R with 16MP, compact system camera boasting an APS-C size imaging sensor and a tiltable touchscreen, (it's missing in nex6/7) Well, as you know I took the nex5r and at first glance it seems that even I have my nex5n, in other words has some characteristics of his predecessors nex5 -5n and a little touch of nex7, but with a slight upgrade, I missed the touch screen in the nexF3 and 5R the amazing thing in this is you can touch the screen to shoot without pressing the button, with the new touch-shutter option.

on the screen shows the finger, when you touch it turn in * orange *so press gently *to take the picture.

Added the Fn button, like the nex7, you can quickly change MF-AF, AF mode, WB, metering mode, picture effects .... you can customize it, when I use for first time, made me as easy as be using the nex7.

The control dial works perfectly and it is easier to change the aperture value and shutter speed, this changes according to each shooting mode, it is much better than the other 5/5n/5F.

*Is fully touch screen and tilts upwards by around 180º and downwards 50º., with a front-facing option that works well for self-portraits, face and smile detection faster, even in low light.

Wi-Fi can also be used to back up your photos by transferring them from the camera, wirelessly, to a PC. I transfer some pictures to my wife's Ipad and was so quick and easy, although I am not a fan of these apps but it is very useful and even upload photos to flickr or FB, and the Smart remote control.

but it's not perfect, thw LCD is similar to the 5N, is a capacitive , but 5R is a resistive, I felt better in nex5n,well the NEX-5R features a maximum equivalent ISO sensitivity of 25,600 and a top burst rate of 10 frames per second, offers exceptional performance in low light conditions, and even the noise has been greatly improved. was a good choice to take the nex5r but I only need the VF. But for now will be later. I was thinking to take the 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 lens powered zoom and contains built-in Optical Image Stabilization for SteadySho clearer handheld images, but was not available in the store just online, so take the kit 18-55mm.

Great write up. The only reason I'd upgrade from the 5N would be for some of the apps, specifically the remote and bracketing. The touch screen shutter release might be useful, but I'd have to try it to be sure.

Congrats on getting the 5R, it looks like it will serve you better than the F3 would have. :)

Great review. Looks to be a pretty decent upgrade of the 5n.

Great review. Looks to be a pretty decent upgrade of the 5n.

I had forgotten to mention,the bracketing app does more effective, there +0.3 / +0.7 / +1 / +2 / +3 and backwards, wow perfect for those HDR.
I could only do a few shots at night, so I had to use the high ISO in most of the shots.

Haha, I like your wife's facial expression in the background! I think she is thinking, "hey, you already have the NEX7... give me back my 5R!!" ;)

In fact she loves the nex7, she is learning to use MF and this is a danger that, she can remove it from my hands.

Wow, that's ISO6400 on the 5R?!?? The sensor noise is hardly noticeable!

yes it is, but I did a PP in LR4 to reduce noise.

I played with one at a store, the new control dial feels great. Much better than the existing control pad dial (which is actually pretty good as far as those go.)

Yes, that's true, a lot like my nex 7, and easier and faster to change the shutter speed.

Something I found fascinating in nex5R application is using the picture effect, you can press the Menu button and have access more quickly to change the shooting mode P, A, S, M, also change the ISO, WB, Auto Mode, AF / MF mode, autofocus Area ..

Also shot this afternoon using my iPod and iPad, I loved it because it was a few feet away and could see with great image quality and resolution in it, and just had to smash the button to take the picture, almost as a remote control but even better. This new apps in the nex5R it's crazy.
