IMO your shots are good the way it is, if you're having troubles with manual focusing the only thing I can suggest is the NEX's focus peaking feature (this makes manual focusing with the NEX a breeze).

The lens itself is very good (and is one of my favourites) and it will depend on how you use it, I tried to use it as an everyday general purpose lens but I found the focal length (75mm with the crop) to be a bit long and narrow, however I find it perfect for portraiture.

Nowadays I use my voigtlander 35mm as my everyday general purpose lens as it equates to a 50mm on the NEX, but I always go back to this lens though if I want to take portraits, I find that the combination of focal length, and it's fantastic bokeh qualities perfect for portraiture.

Freddy, I liked the two photos of the young lady best, especially because she doesn't have that "I'm hot and posing" look. What kind of post-processing, if any, are you doing (Aperture, Lightroom, other)?

The telephone is interesting as well, would probably lend itself to mild HDR (usually works great with metal) and a little more of the reflection on the side.

I used lightroom 3.6, the aperture i can't remember, i think was a 5.6,but the first picture was a f2.8 and it was dark room, that only reflected light from the TV so so i use ISO 1600 but looks very well, the noise is lower...I love this lens and get used to manual focusing

thanks to all

The pictures are nice and I like how they came out. I plan on getting this lens too. I accidentally bought the 50mm f1:2 from ebay thinking it was a 1.2 lol

I found the 1.2 to have a tiny less bokeh than it's wider apertured siblings, but it's also a lot sharper than them. If youre shooting something and sharpness is the name of the game rather than oof rendition, this lens will be a good choice.

Very beautiful shots! I especially like the b/w images (I'm a b/w fan) the tones, contrast and amount of oof is spot on. Very nice capture

I know I'm necroposting for my first post in this forum, but thanks for this thread. I have been out of real photography since film was still popular. I will be getting a NEX 5 from a friend in the next week or so. I just won an auction on ebay for this lens and a 28mm 2.8 along with the nex md adapter.

I've been looking all over to find images taken with this combination. All the shots are great, well the few I can see, the ones from the first post don't show for me. The b/w are excellent, I particularly like the NYPD shot. Were these shot with the monochrome mode in camera? Or converted in post?
