Spoke with Sony Style representative today, according to this fellow the estimated ship dates in their system are "not accurate but we have no idea how the storm will ultimately impact delivery".

Flooding at the Sony plant has definitely become worse than was known several days ago:

It looks awful. I have a hard time thinking about cameras while looking at such a picture. Hope the affected people in Thailand can recover from this.

It is an awful situation to be sure. The recovery effort for the people of Thailand is going to take a long time, no matter what but potentially worse over the long run would be lasting and enormous adverse economic impact if foreign manufacturers decide to rebuild elsewhere.

There's only so much you can do to thwart mother nature; given the topography and climate (and changing climate?) is there anything that could be done to protect people and property from such flooding?
