Nex-7 + Novoflex adapter + Nikon 85mm F/1.4G + Tripod = Lens Collar?

I'd like to use my Nex-7(12 oz.) with my Nikon 85 F/1.4G(21 oz.) with a tripod. The huge weight imbalance would seem to put a lot of stress on the
camera's lens mount unless a lens collar is used. Anyone mount a heavy lens on the Nex-5 using a tripod? Did you use a lens collar or just connect the
tripod directly to the camera base? How did it work out?

I have a 500mm Vivitar that is quite heavy that I was concerned about putting on the tripod, but it works just fine.

Take a look at the Fotodiox adapters. They have a tripod mount built into the adapter. It's a nice feature.
