    Hi all, I'm new here.

I got a NEX-6 recently, I am very impressed with the camera - especially a sensor. That's saying a lot from someone coming from the world of DSLRs

I find the camera's B/W JPEG processing to be spot on, with great contrast and clarity. These shots were taken in RAW and converted to monochrome in photoshop:

    Thank you all.

The first one was actually taken with a Helios 44-2. IQ on the lens is usually mediocre at best, but then sometimes it gives me results like that wide open. Go figure.

I like these portraits too. First one is the best with the mood! I saw more of the swirly bokehs of Helios, this is very good...

I don't usually post candids anywhere but facebook for my friends since nobody really wants to see photos of my friends. But why not - you all seem like a surprisingly involved bunch :)

These are actually shot in B/W JPEG, pretty much SOOC.

I ordered one of those last week - wanted to have a go at creating the infamous swirly bokeh (plus it was only 8 pounds from a camera shop with a 6 month warranty!!). Still need to pick it up from the post office though...plus still waiting for my m42 adapter to arrive from China.

The 44-2 is a fun lens, but it's ancient design shows. Shooting towards any bright light sources is impossible, at least in my experience. There's a ton of flare and ghosting. Spherical aberration is a problem at F/2 as well in certain lighting conditions. It'll take some time to learn your lens but it can produce some interesting results:

congrats Mate, I love your photos, amazing portraits in B / W, no doubt shoot jpg in the nex, you get incredible results, sometimes don't need PP, although usually shoot in Raw, but I don't regret shooting in jpg.

That's always the trick, isn't it? Clearly you've taken the time. Great shots!

Fun shots. I don't normally shot in B&W, but they can be great.
