According to Sonyalpharumors Sigma is about to release 2 "new" NEX mount lenses:
    Sigma 19mm f/2.8 EX DN
    Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN

Are Sigma and Tamron braindead? With ALL the lenses out there that they could come up with they chose to release EXACTLY the ones that Sony already has?!

I honestly hope that Sonyalpharumors is wrong about this and this 30mm is at least an f1.8 and the 19mm is smaller than Sony´s nex 16mm pancake.

It does make one wonder… I was hoping for Sigma to bust out of the gate with the 8-16 retooled for e-mount, but alas, I am yet again disappointed. Hopefully some day. [sigh]

The good new is these should work well since Sigma didn't need to reverse engineer the mount like they always do.

Look good to me, especially the 19mm. I look forward to further lenses from both Tamron and Sigma.

Sorry guys but Sonyalpharumors is correct.
The new Sigma CSC lenses are as stated the 19mm f/2.8 EX DN and the 30mm f/2.8 EX DN. Both lenes are available in E-Mount and MFT.
I've just got the 30mm f/2.8 EX DN. Will test it on the weekend on a B&W workshop with the Nex-7.

The lense looks a bit cheap but the first impression is not to bad. AF is fast (under good light conditions) and the pics are sharp from the center to the corners.

Just got the 30mm f/2.8 EX DN yesterday. Just did some quick playing around with it last evening. Not a Zeiss, but not bad either. Beats the "kit" lens in my book. We'll see. I'll be taking it on a trip to Florida next week and I'm sure it'll get a lot of "testing".

I have been able to play with the Sigma 19mm DN. Decided to take it to NYC for a true test of its charms or flaws. Only one thing to say, this lens supersedes my skill as a photographer.

I'm really keen on the 19mm!

Thanks for the post yunfat... can you over-ride the AF and use the focus barrel for manual focus? If so, is does the barrel feel flimsy like the floppy plastic feel of most DSLR lenses - or is does it feel smooth and solid like the Sony SEL lenses?

Feedback from a focus ring is hard to quantify, and you are correct to point out that manual on newer AF (silent focus) lenses is often sloppy and cheap. That said, I like the feel of the new siggy, there seems to be enough friction to satisfy my needs, and a feedback pulse that actually seems a notch above, lets say, AF-s nikkors... but it's certainly not in the same league as a dedicated manual focus lens (my reference here is ZF.2 28mm). Judging from the lenses you have in your sig, I would say that you would like the lens.

You can override the AF, as you say, in the same way the 16mm and kit zoom override the AF when you turn the focus ring.

I'd buy them in a heartbeat if they had OSS (Hands tremble more and more with age). But they'd be bigger and more expensive, of course.

$400 for the pair seems like an easy purchase, but I just can't pull the trigger.

Love the 30mm - Hope they get the 19mm in soon - May have to get them both

Tried the 30mm out in the store today. It is a sweet lens. Excellent on the NEX wide open.

Missed the focus on the store shot, sorry.

    Hi Yunfat,
I the second shot 'man with pink tie' is really excellent. Great expression and good composition.

    Well done!

I was really disappointed by these lenses when they were announced and now it turns out they're so good for the money they can't be found anywhere!

In the US I got on the "email you when we have it" list at B&H for the Sigma 30mm. Got mine about a week after getting on the list.

Maybe it's good idea to wait for faster new Sony E lens with focal length between 30-35mm? ;)

Ordered the 30mm on Friday. When the earlier pictures I posted from the camera store were taken, they had seven at the warehouse. Wanted $218, but this past weekend would be their semi-annual sale. Stupid me didn't put one on hold then. Price during the sale was $188, but they didn't have any left in stock.

    So now I wait...

Mine's just arrived at work today. Along with my Nex 3 kit. Only had a play taking a couple of shots in my room, but it certainly looks promising. Can't wait to put it to some real use!

    Sigma 19mm f2.8 @ f/16, 4sec, ISO 100

Went back to my favorite spot and took this with the Sigma 19mm - Was late evening, no ND filter needed to get the long exposure

Wow, that's a fantastic pic! The sun peeking through is the clincher. The way the Sigma's apertures turned that sun gleam into a star shape, plus the motion blur of the water has given this shot a strong spiritual appeal. Love it, well done db!!
