A friend of mine once had an aquarium specially built for photographing his Betas.. It was made of glass, not Plexiglas, and was about 12-inches high by 24-inches long. The unique thing was that it was only about 2-inches wide. This allowed him to place various colored backgrounds behind the tank and kept the fish well within the DOF of his lens. He lit the tank from each side...

So, Nikolas was an idiot and got himself stuck behind a filter all night. By the time I found him he had passed away.

After a few days, we went and found another Betta, hopefully, he is smarter. Werther the Original
