Hello:D ,in the past weeks a had been searching for a lens for my nex5n , my budget actually is 800$, i was looking for a tamron 70-300 for sony and also buy the LAEA2 adapter,BUT i has a lot of questions ,what about lens stabilizacion?what about other lenses?there's are another possibility? I need a telephoto and i dont know what to do, my 55-210 got broken i dont know why! and the warranty of sony sucks they said that they dont know what happens an they cannot fix it....forget that i need a telephoto, whit the autofocus working and i dont want to spen 1000$ on a 18-200 of sony. Thankyou very much

    Short breakdown:

    - No stabilization outside of E-Moutn lenses
    - other possibilities? Yep - the Tamron 18 - 200 or the Sony 55 - 210.

If your 55-210 broke, get another one. Or a Tamron 18-200, which is similar to the Sony SEL18200 LE and doesn't cost a thousand. Getting the LA-EA2 just for a third class zoom lens just isn't worth it. Spend the rest of your money on some of the better E-Mount lenses. The 50mm 1.8, the 24 and 35mm 1.8, just to name a few.

A-mount lenses from Sony do not have stabilization because the A-mount cameras have in body stabilization.

Yup. They are able to keep the NEX small due to moving things like stabilization into the lens.

Is the Sony version even stabilized? Whatever, yeah, AF works, OSS don't.

Yeah, you don't have options. Do you really NEED more than 210mm? Because the Sony 70-300G and the 70-400G are fine lenses, but they are extremely big, heavy and - without any kind of stabilization - pretty useless hand held. Heck, even the Tamron 70-300 is a okay-ish lens - pretty good for its price actually! But when adding the cost of the adapter ... I doubt it's worth it.

If you need this kind of range, I'd consider going the manual focus route. Would save you some money on the adapter for sure, and you always can jump on a native lens when it gets launched (well, if it gets launched ...).
