I think I'm going to put my new used SR-T up on Craig's list locally.
What do you all think of the pictures I've taken to show its condition.

Great pictures, AOA. I always find it tough to make product photos like this, I always seem to have a million dust spots I never see until editing them. Good job.

I posted the ad with the above pictures, but my brother suggested a different background, non-reflective.
I can edit the ad, what do you think about this one?

Maybe it is just me but I find even the yellow background distracting.....perhaps choosing something a bit plainer, such as beige or grey, might work out better? Also it would be good to have the camera sitting on the same plain surface, too, as the background, rather than on something entirely different.

I would set the camera on the same surface if I had some paper I could curve up behind it as the background. I don't think setting it on the towel would give as crisp a look as the table top.

If I'm selling something, the pics don't get 'worked' to make the item look 'perfect'. It is what it is and they are what they are.
Well, I wouldn't equate removing dust specs from a photo to having them "worked." Scratches? Sure. Otherwise, would wiping the item down with a damp cloth before photographing it be somehow dishonest too? ;)

The silver and blue are too close to the camera top. Having said that, if you can use a black backdrop and spot meter on the camera black, you'll get a nice photo. Use a very slight vignette to make the product stand out. Try adding a vignette to the yellow and see what happens.

Hmmm....For a 10 second shot I thought it turned out pretty nice.

Camera manufacturers and retailers nearly always use a uniform white background. I’m sure there are lots of how-tos on how to achieve that.

But for Craigslist you don’t need that level of professionalism.

Thanks Kirkp, I don't want to do what everyone else does, I just want my pictures to look better than the other SRT ads do. Right now there are at least three other ads competing for attention. I'm kind of at a disadvantage since I'm not selling it with a lens. The nice thing is I don't have to sell it if no one is interested in it.
Right now I'm using my living room coffee table, a kids chair and an old towel from the rag pile out in the garage. Keeping it simple and having fun.
