I'm pretty happy with this setup so far. It might change in the future, but I can pretty much shoot everything with this setup and travel plus or minus some lenses. I'm thinking of either adding an A9 or A7R III or maybe swapping out my A7III bodies for the A9 and A7RIII!

I am just tweaking my Sony kit. I have four bodies:
A6400 + A6500 crop format
A7iii full frame
NEX-7 converted to full time infrared

I will most often shoot with two bodies in tandem...

However, when shooting models, I like the A7iii with 85mm f/1.8 outdoors and that camera with the Tamron 28-75mm for studio shoots.

The A7iii with 28-75mm f/2.8 Tamron is great for shooting events...

For walk around photography, I will often carry both APSC cameras wearing a 30mm f/1.4 Sigma and a Sony 50mm f/1.8 or 85mm f/1.8 lens.

How's the new Sam 85?

It's pretty amazing! Very little to no CA wide open and it's both sharp at near and far distances. AF is silent and fast, OOF areas are buttery smooth, it's tack sharp wide open and sharpens up nicely when stopped down. Colors are warm (almost Nikon like), but can easily be adjusted in raw. I like this lens a lot better than the Sony 85mm 1.8 FE, which I found soft at further distances. The Samyang 85mm can easily be used as fast short telephoto lens due to it's sharpness at all distances, minimal CA and fast focusing. I also use back focus Eye-AF with the lens and it's able to stay locked on even with obstructions in the way.

John, I think you'll like this lens a lot especially if you have the Samyang USB dock already!

Nice.
Third gen AF looks amazing.

The Samy 85 is on the radar.
The size and weight difference put me off at first look.
I like the OOF render a little better so maybe a trade up is in line.

It's like 200g + over the Sony 85mm 1.8 FE, but I find that it balances really well. My Sony kit is optimized for weight, but I feel the 85mm is still light enough to not be a weight burden. I'll PM you a high res so you can check out the details!

Ha unlike my daughter, my son avoids the camera at all-cost! He's the type of subject Eye-AF was invented for!

I am on the aging A7ii as my only body. I still have a few vintage lenses, mostly Minolta, but usually use one of my emount Voigtlanders (40/1.2,65/2,110/2.5), a Tamron 28-75/2.8, or occasionally a Tokina Firin 20/2 that I would actually like to replace with a Voigtlander 21/1.4. I've got a fever, and there is only one prescription - more Voigtlander.

I currently have a single Samyang 35 2.8 so I mostly have a "Steve's Lens Map". Since my A7Riii was a wild splurge, lenses will come gradually. I just ordered a used Sony 85 1.8. I like the looks of the Sigma 45 2.8 but it's probably too close to the 35 right now. Not a big wide angle guy but the Sony 28 f2 is probably next on my list. I'd like to replace the 35 with the 45 because I like the "normal" FOV. For longer FL, I'll continue to use my Fuji XH1 since the long zooms are lighter. I keep thinking about a 24/28 to 70/80 zoom, but I like small lenses. OTOH, the 24-104 f4 is tempting.

This is my current A7RII / A6300 Kit. There's a 28/2 on the A7RII. There's a 70-200/4 buried in there too. An 18-105/4 on my A6000 IR camera. And I have a Samyang 35/2.8 on the way.

Here's how my usual-outing stuff fits into my Tenba DNA8 bag

Mi A1    ---    4mm    f/2.2    1/13s    ISO 3200

Illustrated is my a6500, with:

50/1.8 attached
Sigma 30/1.4
FE85/1.8

Sometimes a Sigma 60/2.8 gets swapped in for the 30mm.

There are 16-50 and 55-210 kit lenses too, but they are usually on the shelf.

The actual fit is very snug indeed

Here's a quick shot of how I travel with my cameras. Usually have the Sony lenses mounted and carry a variety of other manual lenses, depending on the mood I'm in. I take chargers, spare batts, straps, filters etc too.

One area I'm finding really expensive on the Sony side are telephoto lenses beyond (and faster) than 200mm. At least Nikon and Canon options are plentiful and cheap and are adaptable on both the Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts, but Sony has the better mirrorless tech so far.

a7iii + Sony 12-24, Sony Zeiss 16-35 f4, Sony Zeiss 24-70 f4 (soon to be sold), Sony 24-105, Sony 70-200 f4, Sony Zeiss 55mm
a6300 + Sony 10-18, Sony 55-210, Sony Zeiss 16-70.

Hoping to upgrade the a6300 eventually and also add a Sony 100-400GM or 200-600 sometime next year (undecided which to get)

My current setup is: a7r2 + CV 21mm 1.4 Nokton, CV 40mm 1.2 Nokton, and CV 110mm 2.5 APO Lanthar. I sold my AF lenses and bought the wide and macro recently when I realised the purpose of photography for me is relaxation and not caring about always "getting the shot". That and the 200-600 being totally unavailable here.
