Not really Jim. This lens looks like it went through the war. Got it on flea bay for 29 bucks and the app ring is broke so is the mount. I made a make shift adapter out of one of my old md/nex adapters that wouldn't focus to infinity, now it's welded to the lens and it works for now. Only tried moon shots with it so far.

I'm sure your nikon is much better, along with your photos.

Yeah, that really makes me feel better.

I'm still coming to grips with the focus ring on the Nikon. I'll get the hang of it eventually. :)

Great photos! I especially like the sharpness you have there, handheld no less. I tried a few shots last night with my Nex-6 attached to a 700mm telescope but had a hard time trying to figure out how to focus well. With focus peaking active, there was about a 1 inch range of the focus tube for which the NEX thought the moon was "in focus", with only the outline of the moon being highlighted (I would expect some of the dark to light regions on the surface to show up too). Any tips I could use to help me focus more accurately?

Taken with a Nex-6 attached to a Celestron Nexstar 60 GT (60mm aperture, 700 mm focal length) using a wireless remote.
Still waiting on my Meade projection adapter, so I had to make do with my existing T2 to e-mount adapter and some foam tape.

I took this one back in May with my Orion Starmax 127. I held the camera (with the sigma 19mm mounted) up to the eyepeice of the scope. To get good focus, I used focus assist (magnified view) instead of focus peaking. This made it very easy to nail the focus. There were still some blurry spots due to turbulence in the air and the fact that I was hand holding the camera to the eyepiece it was not easy to keep it positioned exactly lined up with the eyepiece. This is actually a couple images combined, sort of like focus stacking.

[sigh] I need to get a telescope added to the (growing longer all the time) list.

You should. I was pretty satisfied with my previous Sony point-n-shoot. One of the main reasons I got the NEX was to get into astrophotography.
