Playing around with PP settings. One is more dramatic and moody, the other has more dynamic range. NEX-6 + Pen F 38/1.8.

I like the 2nd one the most, so there you have it - two different opinions, lol :)

Another opinion: I actually like them both, and for reasons akin to what the OP said.
The first one is darker, moody, and puts the emphasis (to me) on the light of the Sun. The second one has more range and seems to shift the emphasis to the foreground, i.e., the buildings and especially the fog.

Ding! That was my thinking: why not play around and shift the emphasis in the photo? Thanks everyone for looking and commenting. Like Steve, I like them both, each for different reasons.

    Thanks Tony.

Of course, I think this explains why I have such a hard time doing PP thus far... I tend to like each edit for its own merits and can never decide what to go with. ;)
But you're right... why not play around and go for different points of emphasis.

I like the second one better, on the monitor I am using right now!

I find with photos like this, where a small brightness change makes a big difference to the image, it can look totally different depending on what you are viewing it on.

Definitely. My monitor at work is considerably darker than the one I use at home, even though both are Dells, and I've adjusted it to its "optimum" settings. Even more head-scratching is that I have a dual-monitor setup at work, and the left one is darker than the right one.
