Looking at some of the samples linked below (not my photos), I think this lens has the magic of the 50/1.0 Noctilux and is an incredible bargain for the price. There are some reports on FredMiranda of poor build quality (lens falling apart), but I ordered one and will take my chances since I trust PopFlash as a seller.

Doesn't hurt to have a good model to photograph :)

Love the lens. I may sell off most of my fast 50's now. Here is an OOC jpg just cropped a bit. @.95

Nice captures guys! Hows the weight of it? 720g seems pretty darn heavy to me :O

It's heavy, but worth it if size isn't a problem.

I was debating on this lens or the fd 50mm 1.2L. This won out. Mainly because of the newer optics and coatings. I'm sure I would have been happy with either. I'm sure the canon is more compact. Don't think the difference in speed would be a factor. This lens when focused correctly is razor sharp at focal point at all apertures including wide open. Not sure about the canon.

Well it sure does look great so far! I have the FD 50L, and its wonderful. Tack sharp wide open, my current favorite lens at the moment on the A7. I have several pics in the Adapted lens thread on it. I think it would have been hard for me to choose as well if the Mitakon was around at the time I bought it though! f.95 on a full frame sensor? Holy smokes :D

It's very heavy. I couldn't use it as my primary, general use lens. Same thought I had when holding my brother's 50/0.95 Noctilux, which is almost exactly the same weight. I'll have to borrow his lens one of these days to do a shootout.
