I'm finally feeling the Minolta love!)

    Here's a portrait trial at f/1.4:

    And at f/2:

I think I prefer everything (contrast & background blur) at this setting.

This must be some of that Minolta magic I've heard so much about. (I think I can even see those "Minolta" colors...)

I never cared much for my copy of the newer MD 50mm 1:1.7. The older MC trounces it pretty thoroughly in the corners. So much so, it even holds up, wide-open vs stopped down:

And with both at their optimal corner settings, there's definitely no contest:

I think this MC 50mm is a keeper!

Was about to post the samples I just took while going down to Alabama to mountain bike. Might as well post them here I guess! All of them are not edited or cropped, also my first photos on Flickr :D

    Few more samples...

I see this was the lens Claire was "hating" so much. And I can see why.

I love the detail, love the character, love the subject isolation. I think I have a new favorite nifty fifty! :)

Everything on this page is crystal clear with great colors, but I love the cat shots.

That second shot is incredibly sharp. :)

Great photos! I just received mine like 2 weeks ago.. but the lens adapter came in yesterday. Tried a few indoor potraits of my kids... loving this lens to bits! i have NEVER used a camera in manual mode... so, its going to be challenging for me nevertheless

Okay, here's my favorite few shots so far from this, my new favorite lens...

And here are a couple more with the trusty MC 50 1.4. Not macro, not even "close-up", but fairly close in shots of a flower my wife planted and which just opened up this morning.

    Orange Flower
    at f/4, 1/1000, ISO 100 (Aperture priority)

14391915641_d74aae2e71_o. More Orange Flowers by SRHawk64, on Flickr

I tried to focus on the pistol and stamen, and think I did okay. Pretty shallow depth of field... you should of seen the the shot at f/2... too hard to focus even on the pistil and stamen.
Don't know the type of flower... and the wife is too sleepy to remember.

Thoughts, comments and critique welcome, as always. Enjoy!

Here's a few more recent ones with the MC Rokkor-X PG 50mm f/1.4, my go-to indoor lens...

My Favorite Models, My Sleeping Dogs from this Morning - Katie, eyes heavy:
14718861551_237eb1b43b_o. Sleeping Dogs 2 - Katie by SRHawk64, on Flickr

Darci, eyes not so heavy, well, at least one (her eyes are a bit cloudy, so....):
14721744382_1abb7cee7f_o. Sleeping Dogs 1 - Darci by SRHawk64, on Flickr

And one of our senior brindle Shih-Tzu Darci on a brown couch... not the most dynamic cold palette, but hey, it is what it is:
14741918623_54541307a3_o. Brindle Shih-Tzu Darci stares from Brown Couch by SRHawk64, on Flickr

All straight out of the camera JPEGs (though I am shooting RAW+JPEG now), no PP. All 1/125, as I'm using shutter priority and that setting most of the time except in bright sunlight outdoors. And all at f/2.
