This came up by some playing around with this specialty lens. A bright main subject seems to work best. SOFT set to 3 (max.) with a fairly wide aperture f/4. Stopping down further quickly diminishes the soft effect.

I like creative renditions SOC although, we can often get the same effect through post processing.

I have a Canon 135mm f/2.8 Soft Focus lens which I will try on my APSC Sony mirrorless camera using the Sigma MC-11 adapter.

The Canon SF lens is a bit overboard when I have SF-3 dialed in. I tended to use it at no greater than SF-2 on my Canon DSLR cameras. We will see what's best on the Sony APSC body.

I also have several soft focus and diffusion filters that I will occasionally use...
