DPReview forum member Eddieaus just leaked the following images of the three Sony lenses which are going to be announced on August 24th:

    lens1. lens3. lens4.

The NEX lens lineup is starting to shape up! The Zeiss 24/1.8 and Sony 50/1.8 make for an appealing two-lens kit for the prime shooter, and the existing 16/2.8 complements those two quite well. Also good to see that NEX shooters will have an inexpensive telephoto zoom option.

All three of the new lenses are indicated to have a 49mm filter size, the same as the existing 16mm pancake, 18-55 zoom, and 30mm f/3.5 macro. Based on that, the new 24 and 50mm primes appear to be reasonably compact lenses, similar in size to the existing 18-55mm kit zoom (Update: See size comparison below).

    I'll bet the 24 is a stunner!

But that long zoom is way too dark, IMO. 4.5-6.3! The Canon 55-250 IS is 4.0-5.6. I'd like to seem the compared in size and weight. That Sony lens looks to be not much smaller than the Canon. I wonder if the 50/1.8 will be a $120 lens like the Canon and Nikons. That would REALLY help the NEX system -- a very affordable prime.

Based on the images, it looks like the 50/1.8 is not stabilized. I didn't expect it to be, but it would have been nice if it were!

SAR is reporting "Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 will cost around $999, the 55-210mm f/4-6.3 OSS will cost $299 and the 50mm f/1.8 OSS will cost $349."

The prices sound plausible and IMO reasonable. The Zeiss is going to be priced out of a lot of budgets. The 50 should sell well.

Not sure how good their source is on the 50 having OSS, but the leaked image isn't labeled OSS, so it seems likely that it is not stabilized.

If, as is rumoured elsewhere, the 24/1.8 has a leaf shutter, then the price of $999 isn't too bad?

    The 50/1.8 should be interesting.

For $999 for the 24/1.8 there had better be some big surprise, like lighting-fast AF, razor-sharp wide open performance, and a leaf shutter. Otherwise, I'd suggest the Panasonic Lumix 20/1.7, an M4/3 body to go with it, and a good bottle of wine.
