Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this lens, especially vs the MD Zoom 35-70 f/3.5.

I've seen the 28-70 available for about 1/3 the price the 35-70's are going for on eBay but before getting it I thought I'd see if anyone's had one?

    Thanks, Jonny

Both those lenses are quite well respected, (don't have either myself).

The MD 28-70 F 3,5-4,8 was not made by Minolta but rather sub-contracted to outside manufacturing ( as all of the lenses that bear serial numbers with 8 digits were not made by Minolta ). The others coming out of memory were:
    - MD ZOOM 35-70 F3,5-4,8
    - MD ZOOM 70-210 F4,5-5,6
    - MD ZOOM 70-300 F4,5-5,8
    - MD ZOOM 100-300 F5,6-6,7

They don't have the same mechanical construction and those i have are all broken or unusable in some way.

Well I decided to buy the lens, still in original box and apparently in 'as new' condition, guess I'll find out when it arrives early next week.

The units that I have we're all made by Magnicon:
MD zoom 28-75 F3.5-4.5 macro auto zoom multi coated 62mm filter thread
MD zoom 70-210 F3.9 macro auto zoom multi coated 58mm filter thread
MD zoom 35-75 F3.5-4.8 macro auto zoom multi coated 49mm filter thread
MD zoom 70-210 F4.5-5.6 macro auto zoom multi coated 49mm filter thread

They all have the 8 digit serial number
I used the firsts two on my SR series Minoltas as well as my X-7A. Love those two, as they were my first lenses and traveled everywhere, and never gave me any issues. Very solid construction, and very good IQ.
The last two where bought with my X-9N, smaller and lighter versions.
Still, they both are of a good build quality and also had good IQ.

Now, I will be using them on my Sony NEX 5R.

    Enjoy your new lens
