I have a 14 year old daughter who, other than snapping selfies on an iPhone has never shown any interest in photography. Yesterday she picked up my NEX 5R which had a Minolta MD 50mm f1.4 on it. She asked if she could go and take some photos. I quickly showed her how to use the focus ring. Basically told her to turn it till the sparkly yellow stuff is on what it is you want to take a picture of. Set to aperture priority, auto iso and sent her on her way. Didn't explain the aperture ring I think it was set wide open or there about. I had a look at the files this morning and processed a few. I think for her first time with a manual focus camera she did quite alright. She clearly had fun as she didn't come back till the battery was dead.
