Well, it's not really a show. It's more a marketplace for cameras ranging from the modern DSLRs to Vintage film cameras. It's hosted every two weeks at a local hotel, but there are more shows around Southern California. This week it was at a community center, which was a welcome change. The previous venue was dark and smaller.

There's a lot of cool gear but not as much as you'd think. Most are vendors are aimed primarily to the high end glass buyers and modern DSLR enthusiasts/pros. Though I did meet a really nice strobist who uses Sony gear for a lot of his work. He had his NEX 6 on him and his flash kits were pretty inexpensive, yet very impressive.

Bought myself an MD Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 and MC Rokkor-HG 35mm f/2.8 for reasonable prices, little bartering involved (The 50mm does have a fungus spore, but luckily there's a repair shop that will try to get rid of it near by)

Here's some photos I took with said lenses:

Same - might look into if there is anything similar in the South of the UK... Is there anywhere on this forum that this kind of event might get mentioned/plugged?

It's pretty funny, I actually found out by searching through craigslist. It seemed pretty shady, but after going to one of the events it was actually pretty nice. Although, I don't know if I mentioned it but the prices are still pretty steep. Bartering helps reach your desired price, but you can't be too unrealistic.

Wow. Don't have anything like that here, or at least I've never heard of it.

Nice! There are a couple things like that here in the Bay Area but I never know when they happen.

Wow indeed. We have only a few of these events within reasonable driving distance in a year. In 2 weeks we'll have the half-yearly photographica fair in The Netherlands, one of the biggest in Europe, so GAS is building up, I'm already making my shopping list. :eek_old::D

Oh man, that's so exciting. Be sure to take a lot to pictures when you go! What do you plan on purchasing? You already have a lot of great lenses from what I've seen. Also, what is GAS?

Well if you're ever down in SoCal, let me know! I'll send you the link for their website to see if there's a show that happens when you're nearby!

Where do I start? I'm prone to picking up a lot of stuff if I see something nice for a good price. An Olympus OM 40/2 would be nice, although I already have 2 40mm lenses. I'd like to try a Minolta MC 35/1.8. Just posted about shift lenses, so what do you think will happen when I stumble upon a good deal for one? Flektogon 20mm. Any serious wide-angle lens in the region 18-21mm. Any Minolta MD Rokkor-X 28mm lens, as an addition to my collection. A nice Minolta XE-1.

I take my camera with me, of course, but I usually don't make pictures, too busy browsing :). As per your request I will make a series, about time I did.

GAS? Seriously? I see that you have posted 108 times here and you've never seen this word before? Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Need I say more? It's generally considered incurable, but relatively harmless in mild form. Fierce outbreaks can cause serious disruption of finances and put marriages and similar relations under severe pressure. A subclass of this disease is LBA (Lens Buying Addiction), widespread among members of mirrorless camera forums like this one.

OH! Okay, that form of GAS. For some reason because you mentioned taking a trip, I thought you were referencing something about your car or some travel accommodation building up, my mistake! I had my mind set on what I was looking for when I went and got what I wanted. Well I ended up getting a 35mm instead of a 28mm because with my LT the 35mm felt like a more natural FL. But I must agree with you in the case where GAS/LBA are serious cases. It was hard for me not to pull the trigger on a very nice Rokkor 20mm f/2.8

I have this really bad urge to explore different lens mounts, but I feel obligated to perfect my Minolta collection (28mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2.8 or f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/2, 135mm f/2.8) before I move on to something like FD or OM because of my Lens Turbo. Most likely FD since I was brand loyal to them for 5 years. But once I have the 28mm, I may start looking at purchasing a Canon FD Lens Turbo and go on from there. The Lens Turbo is such a wonderful tool, and it never leaves my camera, it's like a crutch to me. I love it to death, even with it's cons. I can't go back to APS-C shooting but I can't go FF yet.

You do have an astounding collection of Minolta Glasses and other more. Glad to see that you're still in the process of expanding that collection! I see that it's going to happen on March 10th. Don't feel obligated for making a huge set, just snap some things you find interesting just let us know if you've found any hidden gems there! Wish I could visit the Netherlands one day, probably will when I'm older!

We'll see, a few pictures would be nice if only for myself. Don't wait to long to come to The Netherlands, with all this global warming and rising sea levels there may be not much Netherlands left in the future!

You're telling me, I live 20mins away from the beach. If global warmer continues at this rate, I wouldn't have to drive to the beach anymore! :D
