One of the reasons I got into photography was concert/event photography.

I'm starting a thread for live music pics. Feel free to add as many as you like. If you can, try to leave as much info about the photo as possible as it may help others shooting in the same situation.

    Example and first photo...

Bar stage with decent lighting. Problem was it was blue and red. Made for horrible color photos.

At first I processed in black and white.

    ImageUploadedByTalkEmount1460344051.421520.

Then I went back, cropped a little and did a vintage Px-70 filter and tweaked colors

Sometimes going for the "artsy" works well IMHO.

    ImageUploadedByTalkEmount1460344224.160835.

Enjoy and look forward to seeing more.

Coco Montoya plays the blues at a local club. Canon FD 135mm f2.0 on Sony
Nex7. Coco started out with blues legend John Mayall. He is a "down bender"
which means that he pulls the strings down to bend the note rather than push
    them upward.

Most of these images from the previous 4 posts have been shot on a Nex6 with the 50mm OSS lens a few on an A7 with the 55mm Sonnar, but I tend to use the Nex 6 combo more than others as it just works for me.

This is a subject of particular interest to me since I actually make my living as a musician. I'm often bugging my fellow players with the camera onstage, though they usually don't object when I can make a photo collage for an event instead of coordinating a bunch of hectic schedules to try and do a group photo.

I am very partial to the A7 with a fast prime for low light work. (Though I do notice: the stage lighting is tremendously important. Tempted as I am to invest in an A7sII, if I'm being honest, a couple of LED spotlights would probably benefit the photos a whole lot more for a whole lot less money.)
    fb-2.
I've been doing this kind of stuff since I got started in photography and music in the 1980s. Much as I find myself hitting certain limits with my current gear, you'll never catch me grousing. Not as long as I can recall trying to do nightclub shots with super grainy 400 speed film, back in the day.
This was kind of a fun and unusual application of the stitched panorama:
    fb-1.
Just happened to be there with only the 85mm. Not many other options for getting the whole group in one frame. The stitching isn't completely perfect, but I think I actually prefer this over a more conventional capture with a wide angle (plus I got to chose from a couple different frames of each player).

There are some great pictures here!! I love shooting bands. This is a shot of the Late Show Band in Indianapolis. They've played together since the seventies and still put on a great show. A7 with the Sony 28mm f2.0 wide open.
