This summer I hiked the Kearsarge Pass Trail through the John Muir Wilderness to the edge of Kings Canyon National Park in California. Each of these photos were stitched together from 6 separate photos and reduced by 50%. Taken with a Nex-7 and a Sigma 30 lens.

The first one is from the Kearsarge Pass which is at 11,700ft looking out towards Kings Canyon NP. The Pacific Crest Trail goes through this valley.

The second one is looking back at the John Muir Wilderness.

    Fabulous images. What a location.

John Muir was born far from where I live in Scotland.

Am I the only one for whom these images display waaaaaaay too tall? On my desktop Mac, iPad, and iPhone it looks as if the images are 1024 px wide by about 100,000 px tall. Very strange.

Here are the same two photos uploaded to the Forum. Perhaps they will display a bit better.

    Much better! Beautiful shots.

You may want to consider editing your original post with these updated photos, in case anyone else would like to avoid scrolling down to see these.

    Thanks Todd.

In my younger (and more foolish) days I hoofed it over that pass, and then over Forester and back out via Whitney Portal with a 65 lb. pack on my back. Doing that today would most certainly kill me. ;)

I guess I'm still relatively young, although going on 50 next year. Camping and hiking up at the higher altitude was nice at that time since it was during the record heat wave in Nevada (117F one day).
