    And as an afterthought...can you just imagine a duplicate of that shot, with a locomotive's headlight visible at the far end

    As it happens, right after I got finished shooting a northbound train appeared on the horizon. But I wasn't in the mood to play "chicken." ;)

    Thanks all. That mountain (Mt. Shasta) would normally be plain to see from that spot, Chris. But the smoke from numerous forest fires has obscured it for weeks now. We're all just praying for the autumn rains to come.

    I actually think the faint mountain adds something to the image. It looks like a high key white silhouette.

    Sad to hear you still have the fires burning. I actually like that the mountain isn't plainly visible.
