I just recieved my NEX 6. I switched cameras from a T4i (I had a 18-135 STM and a 50mm 1.8). I was looking over this forum and discovered (as the camera was in the mail) the adapted lens. This weekend, I should recieve a Rokkor 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.7 and 135mm 3.5.

Why I'd switch: The T4i was big and starting to get left behind missing moments I wanted to catch. My pre-SLR favorite sized camera was the panasonic ZS7 of which the Nex feels like a much more refined version. I wanted the nice picture quality and like taking occasional videos. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning

Nes is excellent camera. It is not perfect but serves one function very well. That is it is easy to carry and despite of that takes good pictures.

I have had my NEX 6 for a couple of weeks now. Improvements from my NEX 5 that I like most (so far) are:
    - apps; some are gimicky but some, like Time Lapse and High ISO are useful and fun and work
    - PASM button. Yeah, click to the chase
    - EVF; yep, love it.
    - Zoom lens. Traded in my SEL16F28, so this covers that range. i shoot RAW so the wider angle stuff needs correction in LR4, but that works well

    I used the wiri

I have a few questions from my first week:

Tonight the lenses arrive so I'll get my first feel with anything other than the 16-50. How does the Sony 55-210 compare with other long range zoom lenses?

The 55-210 will provide results comparable to other lenses in its class. In other words it works at least as well as other lenses in the same zoom range, with similar apertures and similar cost.

It isn't as good as a 70-200/2.8 lens, but it doesn't cost $1500 dollars either. I like mine. Here's a couple of shots at either end of probable usage.

    55mm, f/8 @ minimum focus distance.

210mm, f/8 @ minimun focus distance. Both shot through a window.

    210mm, wide open @ 800 meters.

    210mm, f/10 @ 800 meters.

I leave it to you to judge how good a lens it is. ;)
