Im looking for a general walk around lens for my nex 7 and this lens seems really apealing.
    Any thoughts on the performance?

I used the Jupiter 8 with my NEX 5n for a bit. Being a RF lens it's very compact but the MFD is pretty long. If you want a compact walk about lens I would be inclined to look at an Olympus Pen-F 38/1.8 instead.

I got mine attached to a Bessa R but personally I prefer it on an A5100 at 75. Black KMZ copy, 1976 vintage. It has sold me on clickless aperture, also having the aperture ring at the front. Wide open in low light it's kinda meh - at f2 a sparkly ornament on the mantelpiece was entirely devoid of said sparkle, but it does have a something that keeps me using it:

I find it a bit long for a walk around lens but i like it's rendering.

I like my Jupiter 8 too. Its a sharp, compact and crazy-inexpensive little lens. Works well on my film cameras too.
