My camera keeps "disconnecting" in the middle of the update.
I haven't tried yet with the A7II but I had the same problem at first with the A7. I just ran it again from the beginning and it worked. The first time I also was using a random cable. Then I used the one that came with the camera and it worked better. I think the connection is very finicky. Never experienced a cable issue before that tho so not sure if that was the reason.
Just saw on SteveHuff that someone was saying that if you have the PlayMemories software on your computer that it may interfere with the update. Make sure its not set to launch at startup.
This update is very welcome in my opinion. I think this update will make a big difference in the experience with this camera as it pertains to IBIS and manual focus lenses. Nice for Sony to get it out so quickly.
Well, I figured out the problem..... it was me. I have so many USB cables that I chose the wrong one; thinking it was the A7 cable. I was wrong. While another similar-sized cable WILL fit, it won't work. You must use the supplied A7 cable. Once I figured that out (and calming down from my panic) the uploaded update installed easily, and correctly.
Had I read your post, I may have saved some time. Thanks.
Worked fine for me.
Just saw this thread & updated mine...... thanks!!
Update complete. Went smoothly. Noticeable change in the IBIS. So far so good.
Noticeable is what way(s)?
Well the image stabilization during focus magnification is working really nice. Also half shutter press shows more obvious IS kick in while using manual focus lens. I took a few dark shots before the update and then took new ones after. I got more keepers after update.
Worked fine for me (on Windows 7).
This was a great update. Sony HAD to fix the IBIS bug, but they went further and improved IBIS across the board.
Uggggh. I've had the mII in my cart at b&h since they first listed it. TELL ME WHY I SHOULD NOT CLCIK CHECKOUT.....!!!!!
Click it! It is a fine camera.
Cause With Sony's strategy, the A7-III should be right around the corner....lol joking
