My A7R2's setting "AF w/ shutter" is set to OFF, so autofocus is not activated by (half-)pressing the shutter button. Much to my dismay I discovered that infrared remote shutter operation activates autofocus irrespective of the setting mentioned.

I'd like to deactivate AF on operating the infrared remote's shutter button. Is there a way to do that or is this one of those little nasties in the user interface that I have to put up with?

I'm going to hazard a guess and say it's a nasty you'll have to put up with Ad.
I could be wrong, but I doubt that's the case. I think it's a case of not all programmers think like photographers.
I'll bet it's something they could update with a software change though.

yea when shooting remote i've set back button focus up, this means my AEL switch switches btwn toggle AF/MF and activate AF i'll focus then flip the switch press the button again to put in MF and then fire away with the remote. kinda convoluted but it works for me
