Here's one for if you want to go really small:

I noticed one of our house plants had chronic greenfly, and before treatment I had to see if I could get a good enough photo.

This is an uncropped 14 megapixel shot using a 135mm Minolta MD lens, loads of macro filters, and 2x magnification rings.

It took me longer to clean all the glass and find enough lights than to take the shots.
