We spent another fine New Years Eve on the Ice with our Foster Girls, lots of fun had by all.
    Intro

A6000 and 50mm SEL. The lights were constantly changing, from a bright white to a dark blue. That and other skaters getting in the way made for some tricky shots. I kept in it "P" mode for quick shots and had a max ISO set at ISO3200

    First time ever:

Even when they fell, they still were having fun:

They picked up some other girl and hung out with her for over an hour:

    This one cracked me up:

Looks like a hoot, Dave. Great timing on the third shot, where your daughter's eye is perfectly framed by her hand. And the shot of you and your wife is a keeper for sure.

Thanks. It is our three year running tradition.

I too loved the framing with her hand. Totally unplanned.

I let one of the girls take our picture, she did a pretty good job.

You do a lot of cool family activities, Dave. Thanks for sharing! I like the light on the fallen girl, really nicely captured. Bet the improved AF of the a6000 came in pretty handy here compared to your old NEX-6, right?

Thanks, we do what we can with these girls. They often come from rough families and we try and give them love.

And yes the A6000 kept up pretty well. I know that in good light the NEX-6 was just fine, but it was low light where it really dropped off and I would not get as many keepers

Thanks guys. We have fun, but it can be a bit of a challenge at times as well.
