Hi there.
I'm a semi professional photographer from Edinburgh in Scotland. I specialise in botanical and portrait photography but I also do a bit of landscape and cityscape work now too.
I was a Minolta fanatic 'back in the day' so have followed their transition into Sony.I love and still use my trusted old A700 but I wanted a smaller and just as capable camera for mucking about with. I'd loosely followed the development of the NEX system so after having a shot of one in my local Jessops and doing a bit of research I decided to buy a NEX 5N which was on offer as a ex demo model. I've quickly fallen in love with it, its such a fun little camera. Now that I've seen how great these little cameras are I'm mightily tempted to upgrade to a NEX 6. I'll keep playing with my 5N until then though.

Cheers
Toby

Hello Toby... same here, really love the 5N and was also thinking about upgrading to the NEX6... but I think I'll stay with the 5N until more user-feedback comes back on the NEX6. The EVF, the UT, and the flash hotshoe seems to be the biggest advantage over the 5N but other than that, the two cameras seems to be on-par performance wise.

Hi
Yeah the more I've read around on forums (even just this evening) the more I'm tempted to hold off and see what the 6N and 7N hold in store. I'm sure both cameras will be revealed next year and both may have a bigger increase in performance. The 6 does look lovely though. If it drops in price in the new year then I may just be too tempted. Its the flash hotshoe and EVF which sell it for me.

Hello and be welcome :) I have a feeling all nex cameras a fun little things to play and tinker around with - so whichever model you end up settling with, I think and hope you will be happy to use it!

Thanks Tracy. I was in Jessops this very afternoon and had a little play with both a NEX 6 and 7 and I must say I did prefer the feel and look of the 7. I like the fact its got an old style Sony flash hot shoe so my Sony flash guns I use with my A700 would fit right on there. I'll wait until the new year I think before deciding whether or not to upgrade. I think the NEX 7 will continue to go down in price and getting one quite cheaply when the NEX 7N is released might be a good bet.

Sunny Edinburgh??? You are going to have to prove that with a photo, and no photoshop allowed!

Cheers! They were all taken with the 16mm and 18-55 kit lenses. Here's another few from the same day.

You've got a good eye for composition mobias... ALL beautiful shots (sunny too, haha!). I'm with Selten regarding your 2nd pic, something about it that really appeals to me... let me guess, 16mm lens right?

Hi, cheers. Yeah it was the 16mm lens. I took a few more similar to that one, I'll try and upload them tonight.

Edinburgh is one of my all time favorite cities. Lovely and deceptively sunny. Lovely photos. Welcome...sit down and stay a while ;). FWIW my Rokkor 50/1.4 is a terrific match for the 5n.
