Hairy Woodpecker.....seldom seen visitor dropped by today

    Admittedly poor shooting conditions…early morning dark, cloudy, raining, as the tail end of Tropical Storm Ana was clearing out of the Carolinas...and noisy ISO400...but wanted to grab this Hairy Woodpecker while it was here...if it'll stick around I'll get it in better light in the next day or so.

    From this morning, I believe this is also a Hairy Woodpecker judging from the length of its beak. Assuming that’s the case, it’s a Female, which should mean she’s mated with the Male from yesterday and may have a nest nearby, might become regulars.

    Yes, I think I may have a new resident pair of Hairy Woodpeckers...Female came back again this afternoon.
