I got that ring flash a week ago. I haven't got time to test it fully but so far it seems to be ok. Flash duration is short enough and there is enough power (I have C3 so 200 ISO minimum) for macro photography and it can be used for limited portrait work too (if one likes that kind of portraits). I will post some test shots today.

Always been interested in these. Love to see what you think once you get a few shots down.

    Some quick tests

There is enough power as ISO 200, aperture 22 and 1/4 of power produced about one stop underexposed image. Photo is taken with Minolta 55mm macro at
23 cm (that needs one stop exposure compensation too).

The eye image shows the bad points of ring flashes, lack of shadows makes images look flat and ring shaped image of flash head shows in images.

The flash uses Cokin P rings to fix the flash head to the lenses. That is a great bonus as getting replacements is easy. Price is a bonus too. 52 USD + S&H from Linkdelight. Will probably be ok for my plant detail pictures.
