My 11 yr old daughter seems to be really getting the photography bug, and begged to use my Nex 5N to take some pictures. I thought I'd make it fairly simple for her and set it to auto where all she would need do is focus the legacy lense fitted. It is a Rokkor MC 50mm 1.4.
With some help from her 13yr old sister at times, I think she has done reasonably well. :)
Only a little tweaking in LR3 with contrast and fill light etc.

Great start and she will learn much more about photography than with an iPhone camera ( although nothing wrong with iPhone camera). I thought you couldn't use auto with
    Manual lens and adapter?

You know what that means, right? No more Nex5 for you, buddie! This time next year you will be forced to upgrade your gear inventory.

    Great pictures nonetheless

Your correct, it was badly worded by me. What I meant to say was that I set the shooting mode to SCN (and chose landscape in the sub menu) and all she needed to do was focus the manual lense before each shot. And with the peaking feature on the NEX5N, this is a breeze.

Better get her a part-time job now, before she really gets into it. :)

Best excuse I can think of to tell the missus that you now need a NEX7, so that you and your daughter can do photographic bonding trips! Hmmm, the CZ 24mm also comes to mind...

    Hehehe :)

Kidding aside, the photography bug is a lot better than other things kids can get into these days. Glad you're passing on the passion, Soundfanz.
