This won't happen but, I wish that there would be a flash for Sony mirrorless cameras that was compatible with the Godox R2 radio controls and was the form factor of the Canon 270EX Mark-2.

About the smallest flash that is available in this line is the Godox/Flashpoint TT350S. Sure it is light enough but it is relatively tall in comparison to the Canon 270ex Mark-2. The TT350S stands four inches above the hotshoe while the Canon stands a scant 2.5 inches.

I like to carry one of my cameras on a Black Rapid strap and the lower profile of the Canon flash makes it a lit safer, The Sony hotshoe for the Godox flashes is a flimsy thing in comparison to the Canon hotshoe and I have concerns about the TT350S flash swinging around at the end of a black rapid strap because I am afraid that the flimsy plastic connection will break off.

Image quality? Well. I carried the 270EX Mark-2 on my camera all over China and never had a problem with image quality...

I could even do without the R2 compatibility if I could fine a low profile flash...

I just purchased this little flash from Amazon which might work. It has everything I wanted except HSS but, only costs twenty five bucks - so I am going to try it out...

Thanks for posting that Richard. That is one of the things I miss about using my Sony's vs my Nikon D7000. The D7k has a pop-up flash that would automatically work as a fill flash if needed. It would always result in excellent pictures that really captured the environment as it actually was. Say a portrait type picture taken under the eve of a roof on a patio that had bright sun in the background. It would illuminate the faces perfectly but at the same time would capture the fact that there was bright sun out too without blowing anything out highlight wise.
I may have to put this little flash on my Xmas list.
Let us know if it works with the A7iii as I don't see it listed in the ad.

How about the HVLF20M? More expensive, not quite as compact but certainly not very large. An option for some, maybe.

I was considering the HVL-F20M but, I am going to see how well that this little flash will work... I think that it might work better on the A7iii than the A6400 beause the A7iii has a 1.250 second sync speed while the fastest I can go with the A6400 is 1/160 second sync...

I loved having the little Canon 270EX-2 riding on my camera's hot shoe. I hardly knew it was there but it did a great job in fill flash when I needed it. I modified it with a Joe Demb Photojournalist FlipIt...

I did this series of shots at the Stanley Market and the food market in Hong Kong using the 270EX-2 on a 30D camera...
