I sent a PM to @tomO2013@tomO2013 today, asking his opinion about whether to get the FE 35/1.4. He wrote me a long, thoughtful response, but I was sold after the first 16 words:

Stopped at my local dealer on the way home, took Tom's advice, and shot my first "roll" in the evening light. All of these were taken at f/1.4 and processed (quickly) from RAW with default sharpening settings in Capture One Pro v8.1. No cropping, straightening, color fringing correction, or other monkeying.

These are all shown at 2048px wide below with full-res versions on Flickr:

Great shots! Your kids are growing very fast:) It looks like the lens is great for action shots too. I can see your self portrait in your daughter's eye. Enjoy your new lens.

The images took a while to download. Initially one image didn't upload. Maybe it is slow evening internet download time. Firefox is giving me crashes lately with full size downloads. Now it looks fine, but I cannot see 4 images. I don't know if it is browser or the laptop...

    Thanks, @serhan@serhan ! Sorry, it's a brutal thread (13 images at about 8MB each).

The lens does deliver awesome results in your hands, Amin.

But it took 1:15 to download all of the images here, and then the process of moving from image to image and then waiting for the loupe to appear and then trying to move it is so laggy on my Mac (with a ~10Mb/sec connection) that it makes the process of looking at images in this thread an exercise in frustration for me, at least. And that makes me wonder how it's working for people with a faster connection. Anyone?

Now the images are totally gone on my side, then half came back. I checked my connection speed and it clocked 36.60Mb. I restarted the browser and now all are showing.

Bummer, I thought it would work!

I'll replace them with 2048px wide versions. Should speed things up. Just a minute...

    Looking great Amin!
The 3d pop of that shot with your daughter pointing really sum up what this lens can do. It really does have a pop to it and the bokeh is creamy smooth with a beautiful transition to my eye.

Your family is growing up at a scary rate - I can remember you sharing photos of your daughter as a few days old over on mu-43. She is cute as ever.

BTW - apologies for the length of my PM, I realize now it probably came across somewhat salesman-ish!!.

Either way glad you are enjoying your new toy :)

I really don't need another 35mm option, really, however great it is. No small kids around these days. Nope, this lens is not for me (just wonder how long I'll be able to keep telling me this before breaking down).

Great series BTW Amin! If I had kids around me, I suppose I'd get this lens in an instant along with the FE 55mm and Batis 85mm.
