I got the DH1758 and was able to try it out at the park. It takes some getting used to. It's unwieldy, particularly without a viewfinder. What I found is that I got the best results in DMF where I adjusted focus before releasing the shutter. Other than that, I think it will do just fine.
The lighting was tough at the park because of clouds. I Shot shutter priority with Auto-ISO. The first shot was a whopping 1071mm using 2x Clear Image + extender (210mm * 1.5 (crop) * 1.7 * 2 = 1071mm).

I see some (easily correctable) CA on that last one. But that combo sure seems to get you pretty close. What do you think about it?

Now that I have the 55210, you're making me want that DH1758 Gary. Nice shots.
    (This G.A.S. sure is catching. ;)  )

Yep thanks. There is certainly CA. I rushed these through lightroom and forgot to correct CA. Still don't have workflow routine.

As for the extender... Yes it gets close. I'm happy☺. I was surprised at the quality of Sony's ”clear image" zoom. Definitely better than plain digital zoom and definitely better than cropping. I tried the latter for comparison and its not even close.
