So here are a few of my first quick shots with my Christmas sneak gift to myself.

    First impressions.

1- The menu system is a vast improvement! Additionally the easily adaptable buttons make adjusting on the fly soooo much easier.

2- The new quicker and more accurate AF is making me enjoy my AF lenses a bit more.

A video that explains some of the new features on the A6000. A bit dry, but very informative.

Good stuff. I was really tempted by this as well but I decided to go with the gx7 as I didn't want to get into a whole thing switching my m43 lenses out.

That SEL 50 is a beauty. I also read the SEL 32 is fantastic as well. That lens is what had me thinking abut the a6000 :)

Thanks guys. While I was fine with my NEX-6, and had no plans on changing, the price was hard to beat.

Yes, the 50mm is one of the great Sony branded lenses.

I shot with the NEX-6 for around 8 months or so and it has fond memories for me (it was the camera that captured the birth of my daughter and the first 6 months of her life). I would still upgrade to the a6000 though, based on the better AF, better menu, and faster responsiveness. I would still add one to my bag though I just picked up the a7ii and need to get glass for it. But next year I'll add either the a6000 for dirt cheap or an a7000 if it has enough improvements for me (such as going back to the trinavi layout).

The advances when shooting AF are impressive. As much as I love my NEX-6, the A6000 is a huge leap forward.

^^^ Nice to hear about the AF improvement. Do you notice an improvement in low light as well?

The bridge shot is real nice, btw.

    Thanks.

As far as low light goes, the biggest issue I had with the NEX-6 was that in low light the AF had a real hard time getting it right, and when it did it was very slow at finding focus. I had great success MF in low light, but AF in low light left too many misses.

The A6000 seems much better at AF in low light. :)

I had serious misgivings about going from NEX6 to A6000. I really liked the NEX6 (after not liking the NEX 7 and wishing he NEX 5R had a viewfinder). After a few days those doubts went away. the A6000 is as good as it gets in mirrorless ASP-C cameras. I also have the Pentax K3 which I like even better for its toughness and range of lenses - but not the extra weight!
