Filters. How to start

    Dear all,
    I am getting a bit confused regarding the filters so I wanted to ask you if you know any tutorials and guides to start with.

    a. How many different filter types are
    b. all the different filter threads will make me to buy filters for different threads? If yes
    c. how do you handle the costs if you have to buy so many filters for each lens you have

    c. You can buy one large diameter filter of each type you will use and then buy the step up rings you need for each lens you plan to use with filters. For example, the SEL1855 has a 49mm filter thread. If you have a 77mm diameter filter (generally about the largest you'd need unless you're using a really long large aperture lens) you get a 49-77mm step up ring and use the 77mm filter on the SEL1855.
