What is your favorite NEX lens (native E-mount or not) and why?

    Mine is the SEL55210
    ImageUploadedByTalkNEX1373776616.479181.

Why? It's my all around lens for my:

    Portrait work

When I need to isolate objects

I know it's not the best NEX lens but I found it in use in most of my projects. I was told by my professional photographer brother that I won't even use this lens a lot when I bought it but it is totally the opposite.

Beautiful pics, once again you prove here it's about the photographer not the lens.

My favorite lens is the Sigma 30/2.8. It's the lens that's on the camera by default and that takes almost half of my pictures. This one was taken at the coast of Yafo, Tel Aviv during a business trip to Israel.

For me it's the SEL24. I find this lens has a subtle personality that really agrees with me in a number of different situations.

For me it's the kit 18-55mm so far. Don't have the money for anything else, but it's so versatile for a kit:

Right now it's the SEL1855. But I suspect that when I get a SEL1018 my allegiance will switch.

The 35mm 1.4 Nokton on the Nex 6 is killer for me.

So I'll try to explain why. I tested all my Leica glass and won't use any because they render the image that reads too digital for me. Yeah, yeah...I'm old school. The Nokton with the Nex 6 creates a very liquid image. There's an emotional feeling from the photo first...other than a digital appearance first. That razor sharp stuff didn't exist even on the Blad back then.
The Nokton is beautiful even if it's confused.......shhhhh, it says 35mm on the lens but it insist on seeing around 50mm.....and I thought I was confused.

Judging from all of the great pictures and the versatility of the photographers on this thread Sony got their lens roadmap right. The NEX system was published as a rig with "lacking lens choices". However, this forum proved otherwise. By producing "cheap" but great glass and opening the E-mount to legacy and third party manufacturers, Sony holds a solid stance in the photography community.

What camera came with a great KIT LENS? The NEX that's who! Kudos everyone!

Just to comment that: The NEX kit lenses are optically just as good as any other kit lens out there today (except for the newer Canon 18-55 - that's quite a step above the competition when it comes to kit lenses - and no, I don't own any Canon gear).

Ah, I misread the question. I thought it was native e mount lenses only. I need to change my answer to the Voigtlander 15. No, the 21. No, the 15. I can't decide. :frown:

No it doesn't come with a great kit lens. Both kit lenses are only good in decent light outside, which doesn't make them great. Inside, in poor light, the 18-55 kit I have may be acceptable with flash. But it's nowhere near the performance I was getting from Sigma 17-50/2.8 OS on Canon. The truth is, Sony Nex system is sorely missing a fast standard range stabilized zoom that's sharp throughout the range, a kind of lens you can put on your camera and use for most shooting situations. All DSLR systems have more than one to choose from. Not sure about other mirrorless.

I'm still waiting for a fast (ƒ2.0 or faster) pancake prime like Samsung (30mm ƒ2), Panasonic (20mm ƒ1.7), and Canon (22mm ƒ2) have with their mirrorless systems.....

So far I gotta say my go to lens is the Sigma 30mm. On a two month trip out west 75% of my pics were with it.
