Fall Trip to Virginia

    A couple of times each year I try to get back to Virginia to visit family and do a little photography, along with the occasional hike or bike ride. We do spend a good bit of time just driving around and, of course, I'm always looking for photo opportunities. Many of the places are somewhat familiar but, sometimes I come across something new and exciting. The old school house with ladders(added by a local artist) was one of those. Fall there is always pretty and here's a sampling of what I found........

    The old school house on Alum Ridge Road with artist's ladders. The color shot just has a few adjustments in Lightroom and Nik. Then I thought that black and white might be interesting, so did a little more tweaking for those.

    Great photos. We lived in Charlottesville, VA briefly in the mid-80s. I hope while you were in Hinton you got some photos along the New River. Stunning scenery.

    Woof! Some great shots there, Bob! I especially like the b&w schoolhouse photos, and the waterfalls.

    Some terrific shots, thanks !

    I do have a question that maybe someone could help me with.
    I "don't get" the so called artist's ladders sticking out of the windows?
    Is it just one of those things that I / someone really can't have explained to them...that they either "see" something from them or they don't?

    OK, thanks...I now understand from the article what his vision was to use the old apple picking ladders.
    I have to be honest though...never in a million years would I have guessed them to be symbolic of students leaving the school environment...interesting.

    Love the school house. Favourite is the colour but the B&W are cool too. The Ziess 24 is a thing of beauty. Is there a story behind the ladders?
